The Religious Education program welcomes you to a new year of spiritual growth and discovery. Whether you are new to the liberal religious concept or follow a self-described individual approach, you will find a sense of belonging, with our family-based congregation.
If your persistent intellectual curiosity has encountered religious explanations which fail to meet an understanding of truthful reason based clarity, and now feel your spiritual vision seems lost and without direction, join us and together we'll explore this life's journey.
This trailhead begins with an orientation packet which describes the All Souls Church local history heritage and outlines our "high-commitment" membership model. You might begin your hike by viewing the historical and informational DVD "Our American Roots: Unitarian Universalism in North America" hosted by Reverend Marlin Lavanhar and narrated by Tom Brokaw. Learn how this free liberal approach to religious understanding, played an important role guiding our founding leaders with this country's efforts to begin.
Your next trail could include reading and discussing "A Chosen Faith" by John A. Buehren and Forrest Church. This program will allow an honest review of both your learned and current faith belief practices. Further opportunities to encounter views of intellectual depth and awe inspiring spiritual awakenings await you as this curriculum continues with the DVD "The Great Debate: Does God Exist." This on going debate took place at Stanford University and features explanations from science and philosophy.
The religious seeker will find principles 3 and 4 noted in their trail guide. [3.] Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations. [4.] A free and responsible search for truth and meaning. These guide notes place your personal development as a consistent and cohesive theme throughout this Adult RE program.
Additional workshops will feature information to assist parents with teaching Unitarian Universalist ideas and concepts to their children. Covenant groups have been discussed. These groups encourage personal friendship and supportive activities which encourage a feeling of belonging and trust. Besides these activities, our Adult RE involvement continues through several other venues.
